    • Slavery Event: 1823, Fairfax County, Virginia; Will of Hannah Adams. Negro girls Mary & Milley bequeathed to heirs. The following slaves were emancipated: some unnamed slaves had already been emancipated, Sarah (at age 25); Jane Ann, the daughter of Sarah (at age 25 with all her increase); Henson, the son of Sarah (at age 25); Sinah (after another 12 years of service); Lucy, Cato, Henry & Priscilla are to serve Hannah Adams' neice Hannah Smith "during the term mentioned in their emancipation" Ned Dorsey is to be freed after serving heirs for 10 years starting from 12 April 1817. Bequeathments: to neice, Kitty Hughs Payne: negro girl Mary. To neice (and Kitty's sister), Hannah Adams Hughs: negro girl Milly.
